Mystery thing in my colon has grown since my last colonoscopy. They want to do surgery to remove.
Biopsies of disease area are consistent with trohnd, crohts, ckohbs, glotns (my personal favorite) ok, those are reconstructed words that mean, yes, I have not Ulcerative Colitis but Crohn's colitis.
CT scan Thursday with what sounds like close to the prep from hell. Anything they start by telling you "Buy hawaiian punch or kool aid and make it as sweet as you can" can not possibly be good. And that is STEP 2 after the appetizing looking brown white stuff I have to drink 7:30 the night before.(Which brought me to wonder if that is what they use to make the "money shots" in those movies...you know the sort). They were kind enough to give me a special souvenier sippy cup for the prep though. Insulated and everything. Woo hoo. My first Crohn's souvenier.
Then another doctor appointment next Thursday. Followed by the capsule endoscopy. Followed by the surgery. Followed by remicade infusions. At least that is the preliminary plan.

Ok, that drink just sounds *gross*.
Maybe that's why the give you the sippy cup? So that you don't have to look at what you are drinking?
ooh. crohn's swag. too bad the drink that goes in it is icky. hopefully this procedure will help pinpoint something that can really help. thinking about you, goddess.
WHAT?! I take a break, and all hell breaks loose! I'm sorry to hear that it's Crohn's, because that makes the surgery option all the more complicated. Just out of curiosity - why don't they do the capsule endoscopy first? Is the CT scan of the colon or small bowel?
Because when they did the colonoscopy before this one, they saw a little of what they figured was scar tissue from my appendectomy (11 years ago almost). They ran across it again in this one a few weeks ago, but it was bigger. Now, they went back and found the FIRST colonoscopy, where they found out it wasn't there at all. Sooooooooo they want it out and want it out now. Capsule endoscopy as far as I can tell is just to make the GI doc feel better about the extent of the newly decreed Crohns which she wants to say is confined. The ct is of the whole shebang from the multiple checkmarks on the form.
But basically, what they want out of this ct scan is to figure out all they can before the fun surgery to remove whatever this is they are sweating about.
Is the surgery a resection? Also, have they discussed post-surgery meds?
For surgery earlier this year to remove Igor the dermoid cyst, I had to drink some potion that made me gag and THEN have two enimas. Cramping was taken to an all time high. But no swag sippycup.
Hey is the growth due to your intake of azathioprine?
Nope, no resection I don't think. They basically want to nab the mysterious weird growing thing. They are hoping not to perforate but it sounds like they think they might....
oh post surgery meds...remicade infusions is what they are talking right now.
