Changed GI Docs
I changed GI docs 2 weeks ago. I also had a very expensive CT scan and a lovely run of Entocort. Ok, I just finished the first 14 days of it-not quite as evil as prednisone but don't believe anyone who says no side effects. Just saying.
I feel for you. My daughter has suffered from Ulcerative colitis for 8 years. She has been on Asacol, prednisone (6 years, highest doseage at home was 80 mg), and cellcept (her current drug). She had her large intestine out April 29th, 2008, and on the 23rd of this month, she goes in for a j-pouch construction and hopeful removeal of her ileostomy bag. She is 19 years old. She had her colon removed by choice, as she did not wish to endure going back on prednisone or suffering the side effects of a new drug regimen. She also sufferes from Primary Schlerosing Cholanghitis and autoimmune hepatitis. We have been fortunate to be followed since 2005 (liver failure) by UCSF. It is 2-3 hours away depending on traffic, but her care is so complicated, they are the best in our region. Good luck, and I hope your GI is compassionate, reasonable and really knows what they are doing.
